Our Unique Facilities.

Opportunities

We believe that our young people will benefit most from their placement if they are offered a wide variety of experiences and opportunities from which to learn and develop. It is for this reason we are proud to offer opportunities in addition to high quality residential care and education, reflecting what most parents would consider to be desirable for their own children.

All our facilities are available for short breaks and holidays, and are a crucial element or our long term placements.

"Waterworks"

We believe “Waterworks” to be the only floating registered children’s home in the country. She has been providing care since 1994. A mobile resource ideal for difficult-to-settle young people, she provides a home for one young person. As the canal system is linked throughout the country, she can operate in most Local Authority areas, from Liverpool to London, from Leeds to Llandudno. Some young people have lived successfully on board for 1-2 years!

"Prilika"

Prilika is our eight-berth modern yacht. Equipped for up to two young people, she is mostly used for individual referrals. Care Afloat have been providing sailing opportunities since 1991. Prilika is fully licensed as a small commercial vessel. Only available from March to November inclusive, she can sail anywhere around the UK and Ireland. Foreign trips can also be arranged.

"Charmaine"

Charmaine is our 70 foot narrow boat fully equipped for wheelchair access and is available for small groups or individuals. She is also our ‘community’ resource vessel available to local people involved in voluntary work.

"Sharon"

Our oldest boat and at 38 feet, a cosy environment and real chill out space, Sharon can be used as a day boat or for longer trips involving camping alongside.

"Pride"

Our newest acquisition, she is a 57’ broad beam boat, also with wheelchair access. She can be used all year round for individuals and groups of up to 4 young people.

Our boats often operate with staff teams who work 14 days on /14 days off - offering real consistency in times of need.

Le Care Afloat

Our three-roomed chalet in the South of France – a chance for a holiday in the sun. On a site with swimming pool, club house, fishing lake etc. Appropriate friends always welcome.
